Our Services
Backed by 20+ years of proven experience, CERTUS is your trusted partner in commercial concrete flooring design, inspection and compliance.
Design and Construction Monitoring
With expertise in large-pour, low-carbon slabs, we design and deliver robust, cost-effective floors. Utilising mesh, steel fibres, Combi Slab, PT+fibres or PT.
Floors can be on-grade, or founded on RAP (rammed aggregate piles) or SED timber piles. Our experience spans distribution centres, freezer floors, liquid-tight DG stores, and high-bay racking facilities. The aim is simple: robust, cost-effective, low-carbon flooring solutions that perform in practice.
What we deliver:
Design documentation and construction drawings (PS1).
Construction monitoring and site support (PS4).
Independent design review (PS2).
Low-carbon assessment and GWP calculations.
Beyond Floors
SFRC and PT Structures
Our SFRC and PT know-how goes beyond slabs.
We also design:
Water-retaining structures – tanks, reservoirs, treatment facilities.
Rafts and foundation slabs – efficient designs for tricky ground.
Suspended slabs – for commercial, industrial, and multi-storey buildings.
Segmental tunnel linings – fibre-reinforced solutions for underground conditions.
Precast SFRC elements
Designs follow best practice international standards and guidelines or local standards NZS 3101, AS 3600, and EC2. Same principles as our floors: efficient, compliant, and practical to build.
Consultancy and Advice
Not every job needs a full design package. Sometimes you just need a clear answer, a quick review, or a fix to a problem nobody else wants to own.
Here’s what we do:
Peer reviews – efficient, practical, and compliant checks.
Value engineering – cost and material savings without loss of performance.
Specifications and tenders – cutting through unclear requirements and help to write your own tailored spec.
Problem solving – technical advice, site investigations, dispute resolution.
Knowledge sharing – workshops, toolbox talks, and training.
Independent and practical, our consultancy gives clients clear, unbiased input whether it’s a quick call or a detailed review.
Low Carbon Solutions
Sustainability isn’t a buzzword it’s part of every project now. We work with clients to meet Green Star (NZGBC) and NZ guidelines in practical, achievable ways:
Smarter use of materials – the same performance with less steel and concrete.
Mix optimisation – lower cement blends, SCMs, admixtures that balance strength and sustainability.
Holistic design thinking – weighing GWP, cost, and durability together.
Clear specs – making sustainability requirements achievable on site.
The result: floors that hit sustainability targets without giving up strength, compliance, or cost.
Material Testing of SFRC
The performance of SFRC depends on mix design and residual flexural strength values. Testing confirms the design reflects how the mix will behave in practice.
Our approach includes:
ITT – EN 14651 beam tests to establish mix performance.
QA & verification – yearly or project checks.
Relevant design values – using fR1, fR4 values from TR34 for real-world performance.
While AS 3600 Section 16 design rules don’t apply to slabs-on-grade, its advice on testing and QA is applicable to all SFRC projects. This matters even more with low-carbon mixes using SCMs, where behaviour can vary. Reliable, project-specific test data ensures both performance and sustainability.
Floor Flatness and
Levelness Surveying
We survey on-grade and suspended slabs using international standards and industry best practice guidelines. We also deliver grind reports for FM and DM results, however, we take a practical approach. Grinding is always treated as a last resort. Our advice looks at the best way forward — whether that’s an independent pragmatic view of the impact, operational workarounds, or, if unavoidable, targeted grinding
Why it matters:
Better performance – forklifts, racking, automation all run smoother.
Lower maintenance – fewer joint issues, less wear, lower costs.
Peace of mind – independent verification for owners, builders, and tenants.
Independent and practical, our consultancy gives clients clear, unbiased input whether it’s a quick call or a detailed review.
On-site QA
We bring the kit to check concrete performance where it counts on-site.
For SFRC, we use the eyeD device to measure fibre distribution in real time as the truck discharges. It’s faster, more accurate, and less hassle than old-school wash-outs, such as those referenced in TR34. This assesses the full load of concrete and current best practice, such as advice in AS 3600, recognise chute-based testing as a practical option for fibre assessment.
Other tests we run:
Abrasion resistance – surface durability.
Co-efficient of friction – slip resistance and safety.
Reinforcement strength – in-situ verification.
Slab strength – for existing facilities, reuse or upgrades.
Independent QA means slabs that do what they’re supposed to. No assumptions, no surprises.
